Percy Jackson and the Olympians is coming up with a second season. The show is a fantasy television series based on Rick Riordan's book series, created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg for Disney+.
It premiered on December 19, 2023, on Disney+, with the first season consisting of eight episodes, and with more than 110 million streaming hours, the show is now being renewed for Percy Jackson & the Olympians Season 2.
Disney Company CEO Bob Iger announced it during the earnings call of its first quarter of fiscal year 2024. Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Walker Scobell will be starring in the show based on the book "The Sea of Monsters."
Disney Branded Television president, Ayo Davi stated on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.
"We’re thrilled to embark on an exciting new quest and a season two with Rick Riordan, our fantastic partners at 20th Television, and the exceptional cast and creative talent that bring this story to life."
Recently, the streaming service Disney+ has announced Tamara Smart, known for her role in the new movie "Resident Evil", will be cast as Thalia Grace, Zeus's daughter, in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". Rick Riordan stated in a statement recently;
“Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so the right casting was critical,”
Tamara Smart joins the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2
Smart will guest star in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, an adventurous fantasy series that revolves around a young boy's epic life and adventures. Tamara Smart will share the limelight with her main castmates which comprises Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.
Zeus's daughter, Thalia stands at the edge of protecting Camp Half-Blood by standing up to fight at her last stand to protect her friend.
Instead of letting her die, Zeus turns Thalia into a tree that anchors the protection force field around the camp. Thalia is tough and thorny, with a bit of a rebellious punk spirit. She is fiercely loyal to her friends but an outsider in her father's world.
Rick Riordan mentioned Smart’s role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2;
“Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a very ‘punk’ / ‘rage-against-the-machine’ sensibility. As soon as we saw Tamara Smart play this role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electric. Tamara puts the ‘grace’ in Thalia Grace!"
Reviewing of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 ending?
The story of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been carrying the heroes on a road trip across the country as they try to find who stole Zeus' Master Bolt and framed Percy (Walker Scobell) for the theft to spark a war between the gods. The adventure has been far from mundane for the heroes throughout the first season.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians had reached a point long overdue during the conclusion of its first season in a betrayal. In the final scenes, Luke Castellan (Charlie Bushnell) reveals to Percy that he is the only lightning thief throughout all these years. Luke declares that the truths that Kronos showed him have opened his eyes, and he now believes the gods to be his enemies.
But, Percy refuses to join his side, and the two former companions fight. Luke is just about to stab Percy when Annabeth, who heard the whole conversation, steps in-and Luke, son of Hermes, scatters away.
What to expect from Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is likely going to stick pretty much to the main storyline as outlined in The Sea of Monsters. According to the book, 13-year-old Percy goes on an expedition with friends to rescue his friend Grover from his captor, the Cyclops Polyphemus.
Meanwhile, Camp Half-Blood is attacked by a Titan, and Clarisse heads out to retrieve the Golden Fleece that can cure the magical pine tree that protects the camp.
Season two should be just as magical, mysterious and full of surprises as season one. Stay tuned to get more updates on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.
